Installation: 1. Remove the cover of Intelligent Card Slot on the back of the UPS and retain the screws.

2. Slide the card into the open slot and secure with the screws from step 1.

3. Use one 9-pin cable (not supplied) to connect UPS and equipment to implement the remote monitoring and control.

Product description

The Schneider Electric Dry Contact I/O SmartSlot Card consists of a printed circuit board assembly. It installs in the SmartSlot of the UPS host device. The contents shipped with the product are:

The Schneider Electric™ Dry Contact I/O SmartSlot Card is a management product that provides the following features:
UPS status information presented through 6 fully isolated output relays. This is expandable to 8 using universal input/output ports and optional Dry Contact I/O Accessory (AP9810)
UPS control and testing by using 4 opto-isolated input contacts. An additional 4 input contacts (non opto-isolated) may be added using universal input/output ports and an optional Dry Contact I/O Accessory (AP9810)
UPS control and testing based on environmental conditions using universal input/output ports and an optional Environmental Sensor (AP9335T or AP9335TH)
Screw terminal connectors for easy integration into various management systems
A Configuration Utility user interface to customize your setup

Universal I/O Ports 1 and 2 - These support the AP9335T/TH and AP9810 dry contact accessories
USB Cable Connector - Connecting this to your PC enables usage of the configuration utility.
Reset Button - Use an appropriately sized, non-metallic tool to press the Reset button.
LED Status Indicator
Dip Switches - These are located near the back of the front panel on the right-hand side.
Output Relay Terminals - Connections for alarm outputs.
Input Contact Terminals - Connections for control inputs.
Cord Grip - Supports the cabling that is used to control external devices, or to connect up external switches.

The UPS Interface Expander 2 (AP9624) from APC by Schneider Electric provides two additional computer interface ports for a UPS equipped with a SmartSlot™ accessory slot.

This enables the UPS and your power management software to provide a graceful system shutdown for up to three network servers or other devices during an extended power outage.

The Interface Expander 2 draws power from the UPS in order to monitor the UPS and report power conditions such as on-battery and low battery events whether the UPS is receiving AC utility power or not.

Features of the Interface Expander 2

• Mounts in all supported APC by Schneider Electric devices equipped with a SmartSlot accessory slot.
• Works well in a heterogeneous network. Servers running different operating systems can monitor the same UPS simultaneously.
• Typically supports smart signalling on the serial port of the UPS.
• Can delay shutdown of the UPS until all servers have shut down gracefully.
• Has operating modes that cause the UPS to shut down after confirmation from all protected devices or after an interval set by the user. 
• Does not depend on the operation of the network to protect connected devices. As a hard-wired accessory, the Interface Expander 2 reliably conveys important status messages during poor power conditions.
