Ethernet Extender for non-POE connections
OUTREACH Lite provides a simple way to double the length of a 10/100 Ethernet connection. No configuration is required, it does not require a local power supply, and it does not restrict the throughput of the network link at all.
Compact and wall-mountable, OUTREACH Lite takes its power from the network cable using the universal 802.3af Power over Ethernet (POE) standard. Network connections can easily be upgraded to POE compatibility if it is not already available using a simple injector.
Note: OUTREACH Lite is powered by POE but does not forward it to other equipment. To extend network connections to devices that need POE or POE Plus, see Veracity's OUTREACH Max POE-forwarding Ethernet extender.
Rapid installation
Extending network cable runs from an existing POE switch port is as simple as connecting OUTREACH Lite in-line with the cable. Cable runs of up to 200 metres (656 feet) in length are possible, by using a single OUTREACH Lite to connect two individual sections of up to 100 metres (328 feet) each.
Veracity's OUTREACH Lite Ethernet extender requires no external power supply. It simply has two network ports which configure automatically on connection for network speed, duplex and crossover.
If no POE is available on the network, Veracity's OUTSOURCE injector can easily be added at either end of the connection. No other equipment is required by end devices, as all Cat5/Cat6 links are regular Ethernet connections.
Full-bandwidth Ethernet extender
Because OUTREACH Lite repeats the Ethernet signal before it can degrade, the network can be extended without any restriction on its data capacity. Thus the 200Mbit/s bandwidth of regular full-duplex 100BASE-T Ethernet is maintained, for maximum reliability and predictability of operation.

OUTREACH Lite can be used in combination with Veracity's OUTREACH Max POE-forwarding Ethernet extender, to create connections of 300 metres, 400 metres or even further.
For example, to extend a 100BASE-T connection to 400 metres (1312 feet) without any bandwidth restriction, two OUTREACH Max units would be located at 100 metre intervals, followed by an OUTREACH Lite. POE from the switch or injector would be forwarded by the OUTREACH Maxes as far as the OUTREACH Lite, so no power connections would be required along the connection.
This technique can be used to create unrestricted Cat5 network connections of greater than 2km (1.25 miles) in length if required. See Veracity's "Long Range Ethernet Extension" application note for more information.

With a power input of either 10-28 V DC or 24 V AC, it can deliver up to IEEE 802.3at (30 W) to your network device. AXIS 30 W Midspan AC/DC is plug-and-play and compatible with all Axis PoE devices which require up to 30 W power.
24 V AC can be needed in harsh environments where new cabling or installations are not possible and you need to retrofit box, dome or PTZ cameras.

Ethernet is the ubiquitous technology for Local Area Network (LAN) installation, and the majority of networks in place use the 100Base-TX network standards. (A Gigabit version of OUTREACH Lite XT is also available).
However, many security installations demand network connections that exceed the maximum 100 metres (328 feet) distance limit for wired Ethernet.

OUTREACH Lite XT takes advantage of the universal 802.3af/at/bt POE standards, so it can draw its own power from the network connection. No local power is required, so OUTREACH Lite XT can be located exactly where needed. If your network switch has POE, simply connect OUTREACH Lite XT up to 100 metres from the switch, and it will deliver another 100 metres reach over regular Cat5e or similar cable (Diagram 1).
If POE is not available, the link can easily be upgraded using a low-cost POE injector such as Veracity's OUTSOURCE (Diagram 2). No set-up or network configuration is required, as OUTREACH Lite XT automatically sets up network speed, duplex and crossover on connection, and does not require an IP or MAC address.

If a network extension beyond 200 metres (656ft) is required, Veracity's OUTREACH Max XT may be installed to extend Ethernet and POE to OUTREACH Lite XT. For example, a 300 metre (984ft) connection between a POE switch and another network device can be achieved by fitting an OUTREACH Max XT at 100 metres along the cable, followed by 100m then an OUTREACH Lite XT, and up to 100m to the non POE networked end-point device.
For longer Ethernet runs, Veracity recommends LONGSPAN long distance point-to-point devices, which can achieve 100Base-TX connections with POE at up to 820m (2,690ft).
No restrictions
Because OUTREACH Max XT and OUTREACH Lite XT simply restore the network connection every 100 metres, the full (100Mbit/s) bandwidth of 100Base-TX Ethernet is maintained across the entire link. OUTREACH Max XT Ethernet extenders are ideal for IP video applications, as they eliminate the one disadvantage that network cameras have compared to older analogue cameras: the limited cable length. As POE is becoming universal in digital video installations, Cat 5 cable extension is as simple as connecting an OUTREACH Max XT wherever it is needed.
OUTREACH Max XT can also be used to upgrade legacy twisted-pair video installations to IP with POE, where the Cat 5 infrastructure for a network is already in place, but run lengths exceed the 100 meter limit for Ethernet.

Wireless networking

The full 25 watts required for POE Plus devices is available at up to 600 metres Cat 6 when a Veracity power supply is used, or 5 to 20 watts can be delivered from other POE sources depending on range and cable type. LONGSPAN Max High Power devices are also now available up to 90W.

As shown in the diagram above, LONGSPAN Max Camera devices can be locally-powered to deliver the maximum POE (71W) to the IP camera or other POE-powered device, irrespective of LONGSPAN link distance.
In this configuration, the LONGSPAN link could be 820m and LONGSPAN Max Base would be replaced with LONGSPAN Lite as POE transmission over the link is not required. A Quad version of LONGSPAN Max is also available for the camera end with four 802.3bt compatible POE ports, allowing the connection of up to four IP devices over one LONGSPAN link.

Power over Ethernet extender repeates the data signal and forward the PoE to the camera, PoE+ compliant it is compatible with all Axis cameras. No additional power supply is required. The maximum total distance between switch and camera depends on the power input and the power required by the camera, but all cameras can be at least extended to 200 meter connection.
Compatibility
AXIS T8129 PoE Extender is compatible with all Axis network video products with PoE, and supports both IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at. Check in the Typical set-up section for connection examples with Axis network video products.
Range
Range depends on the power required, so a 25 watt PTZ dome camera may be located 200 m (656 ft.) away using a single AXIS T8129. Or, the cable length to a regular 5 watt network camera may extend up to 400 m (1312 ft.), by fitting three AXIS T8129 at 100 m (328 ft.) intervals. No additional power supply
AXIS T8129 does not require any additional power supply and the connected network camera is fed by a single PoE switch or midspan. It offers two female Ethernet ports, which are both configured automatically for link speed, duplex and crossover and the full-rate network throughput is maintained.

The AXIS T8154 60 W SFP Midspan is a compact, plug-and-play media converter with PoE. With its integrated power supply, it minimizes the amount of cabling and facilitates installation. AXIS T8154 offers data input through SFP or RJ45, and delivers High PoE 60 W. It works with all Axis network products supporting Power over Ethernet.

OUTREACH Max provides an instant solution to this problem. By connecting an OUTREACH Max for every extra 100 metres of cable, both Ethernet and POE can be extended to 200, 300, or even 800 metres (2625 feet).
Max power extension
OUTREACH Max is compatible with all regular (IEEE 802.3af) POE devices. In addition, it can be used with IEEE 802.3at POE Plus equipment, and even non-standard or "4-pair" POE to over 60 watts.

Range depends on the power required, so a 25 watt PTZ camera may be located 200 metres away using a single OUTREACH Max. Or, the cable length to a regular 5 watt IP camera may extend up to 800 metres (2625 feet), by fitting seven OUTREACH Maxes at 100 metre intervals. Max reliability
Because OUTREACH Max draws its own power from the POE on the cable, all electrical power for the connected devices comes from a single POE switch or injector, which simplifies installation and allows back-up and control of all network power.
OUTREACH Max's only connections are its two Ethernet ports, and both configure automatically for link speed, duplex and crossover, to eliminate the risk of misconfiguration. Power is forwarded automatically, and issues with POE power classes are avoided.
As OUTREACH Max repeats the network connection every 100 metres, quality does not degrade. This means that the full bandwidth of 100BASE-T Ethernet (200Mbit/sec) is maintained, even over 800 metre runs. This is essential for assured transparency and predictability.

IP Video and Security
OUTREACH Max Ethernet extenders are ideal for IP video applications, as they eliminate the one disadvantage that network cameras have compared to older analogue cameras: the limited cable length. As POE is becoming universal in digital video installations, Cat 5 cable extension is as simple as connecting an OUTREACH Max wherever it is needed.
OUTREACH Max can also be used to upgrade legacy twisted-pair video installations to IP with POE, where the Cat 5 infrastructure for a network is already in place, but run lengths exceed the 100 meter limit for Ethernet.
PTZ cameras, heater/blower units and door interlocks are all examples of products that are adopting the extended-power POE Plus standard that OUTREACH Max also supports.
Wireless networking
Like IP cameras, wireless access points (WAPs) are ideally suited to POE as they must be positioned optimally in locations that are often inaccessible or remote. Using OUTREACH Max, a WAP - or Bluetooth access point or RFID reader - can be located just where it is needed for optimal coverage.
High-power radios and 802.11n APs can take advantage of the POE Plus power which OUTREACH Max supports.
Extending non-POE networks
OUTREACH Max can be used in combination with OUTREACH Lite to extend networks without POE from 300 meters to over 2 kilometers.
