FiberLert™ Live Fiber Detector
The easy, pocket-sized fiber troubleshooter
Product Highlights
Detects active fiber signals for testing ports, cables and polarity.
• Detects optical power in single-mode and multimode fiber wavelengths (near infrared range 850 nm to 1625 nm)
• No setup or interpretation needed – light and sound indicate presence of an optical signal
• “Non contact” detector reduces the risk of contamination and damage
• Suitable for ports and patch cords, SM, MM, UPC and APC connections
• LightBeat™ flashes to indicate operation and battery status; powers off after five minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life (2xAAA, included)
• Two-year warranty
Quickly verify fiber activity, polarity, and connectivity with the FiberLert™ Live Fiber Detector. Just place in front of the fiber end face or port and a light and tone indicate an active fiber (850 nm to 1625 nm) - no setup or interpretation required. This pocket-sized tool tests single-mode, multimode, UPC and APC patch cords and ports with a non-contact / non-contaminating detector. The LightBeat™ feature flashes the LED, indicating a powered-on condition and good battery, a timer shuts FiberLert™ off after five minutes of inactivity to extend battery life (2xAAA, included). Rugged design includes a convenient pocket clip and is backed by a two-year warranty.
Applications
Check polarity and operation of patch cords.
Determine if a port is live. Small size makes it easy to access cramped patch panels.
Determine if a transceiver is operational. FiberLert can detect fiber signals without making contact

Overview of Operation
The unit is used to inject visible red light into fiber strands, allowing faults such as breaks or sharp bends to be seen visually along the cable path. This helps speed up identification of physical issues during installation or maintenance work.
Live Fiber Detection
The FiberLert component identifies the presence of optical signals without requiring direct contact with connectors. This allows technicians to confirm whether a fiber is active before handling or disconnecting it.
Field Use Application
It is commonly used during fiber installation checks, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and verifying continuity in structured cabling environments where quick verification is required.

Fast Network Verification
The device is designed for rapid checks in active network environments where time and accuracy are important. It helps technicians confirm whether a fiber strand is carrying light before performing any maintenance or testing actions.
Practical Field Use
Its compact design allows it to be used directly at patch panels, switches, and dense cable trays. This makes it suitable for troubleshooting and routine inspection tasks where fiber density is high and access is limited.
Operational Clarity
With simple indicator feedback, the tool removes ambiguity when determining fiber activity. It provides immediate confirmation of signal presence without requiring complex setup or configuration.
