The HPE S4A35A#ACC Instant On Switch Series 1940 provides a 48-port access platform combining 40 Gigabit Ethernet ports with 8 Smart Rate 2.5GbE ports for higher-speed network connections. With Class 4 PoE on the Gigabit ports, Class 6 PoE on the multi-gigabit ports and a 600W PoE budget, it can support access points, cameras, phones and other powered network devices while four SFP+ ports provide 1GbE and 10GbE uplink connectivity.
The switch combines 40 autosensing 10/100/1000BASE-T ports with 8 Smart Rate 100M/1G/2.5GBASE-T ports. This arrangement provides standard Gigabit connectivity for everyday network devices while allowing compatible equipment such as newer wireless access points and high-throughput endpoints to connect at up to 2.5GbE.
Class 4 PoE is available across the 40 Gigabit ports, while the 8 Smart Rate ports support Class 6 PoE. The 600W power budget provides substantial capacity for powering wireless access points, surveillance cameras, VoIP equipment and other compatible network devices directly through Ethernet cabling.
Four SFP+ uplink ports support 1GbE and 10GbE connections, providing high-speed links to servers, storage systems, aggregation switches and other compatible network equipment. The uplink ports provide additional bandwidth for traffic between the access network and higher-level network infrastructure.
Layer 2+ functionality includes VLANs, link aggregation and Spanning Tree support, while static IPv4 routing and wire-speed inter-VLAN connectivity allow traffic between supported network segments to be handled directly at the switch.
Security capabilities include IEEE 802.1X authentication, Access Control Lists, TPM 2.0, TACACS+, AAA authentication and accounting, and management access controls. These features provide administrators with controls for user access, device management and network traffic.
The HPE Networking Instant On Cloud Portal and mobile application provide remote setup, monitoring and administration, while the local web interface and USB-C console provide additional methods for configuring and managing the switch. Direct Ops Commands, SNMP read-only cloud access and diagnostics are also available for network administration and troubleshooting.
