The Teltonika SWM281 is a managed L2+ Gigabit Ethernet switch that provides 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports alongside four dedicated SFP interfaces. It combines Layer 2 switching with Layer 3 routing capabilities, giving network administrators extensive control over VLANs, traffic, routing and connected devices across copper and fibre connections.
The SWM281 provides 24 RJ45 Ethernet ports supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps connections. Auto MDI/MDIX crossover support allows compatible network devices to connect without requiring specific cable types, while four dedicated SFP ports provide additional options for fibre-based network links and uplinks.
The switch combines managed Layer 2 functions with Layer 3 networking features. VLAN segmentation, STP, RSTP and loop protection help control network traffic, while static IPv4 and IPv6 routing and dynamic protocols such as BGP, OSPF v2, RIP v1/v2 and EIGRP provide additional routing options.
The SWM281 supports industrial networking protocols including PROFINET, MRP and EtherNet/IP. PROFINET Class B conformance is available with the applicable optional order code, while MRP can operate in both client and manager roles.
Traffic management features include port priority, DSCP priority, 802.1p priority and TOS priority. Scheduling methods include SP, WFQ and WRR, while rate limiting, storm control and port-based traffic shaping provide further control over network traffic.
Network access can be controlled using 802.1X authentication, MAC filtering and VLAN separation. Authentication options include pre-shared keys, RADIUS and TACACS+, with support for blocking IP addresses and login attempts. The switch supports SNMP v2 and v3, LLDP and web-based management, while Teltonika RMS provides remote management capabilities. The SWM281 provides 56 Gbps of non-blocking bandwidth and a forwarding rate of 83.33 Mpps, with a 512 KB packet buffer and an 8K MAC address table. It supports jumbo frames up to 10,000 bytes and uses a 1U rack-mount form factor measuring 483 x 44 x 234 mm.
The switch uses a C14 power connector and accepts 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Power consumption is specified at 5.5 W when idle and up to 20 W at maximum load. The housing and panels are made from anodized aluminium, with a grounding screw and software reset button included.
