The Ubiquiti SM-SP-40 is a remotely managed solar site charging appliance that combines MPPT solar charging with network connectivity and 24V power distribution. It accepts power from a photovoltaic panel through H4 connectors, supports up to 7A of charging current, and can provide up to 40W of total output for compatible network equipment and other connected devices. Built-in UISP management, Wi-Fi, and four Fast Ethernet ports provide monitoring and connectivity for off-grid network installations.

    Key Features of Ubiquiti SM-SP-40

    • Remotely managed MPPT solar charge controller
    • 24V, 7A maximum charging capability
    • Up to 40W maximum total output
    • 24V passive PoE output up to 17W
    • 24V DC terminal block output up to 24W
    • Four 10/100 MbE Fast Ethernet ports
    • Ethernet and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi management
    • 10A maximum PV input current

    Solar power management

The integrated maximum power point tracking controller manages energy from a connected photovoltaic panel while supporting a maximum charging current of 7A. The 10–60V PV input range and reverse and surge protection accommodate a variety of suitable solar panel configurations.

    40W power distribution

The unit can provide up to 40W of combined output, with up to 17W available through 24V passive PoE and up to 24W through the 24V DC terminal block. Two output priority levels allow connected equipment to be managed when available battery power becomes limited.

    Network connectivity and management

Four 10/100 MbE Fast Ethernet ports provide network connections for compatible equipment, while Ethernet and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi management interfaces provide access to device administration. UISP, SNMP, NTP client services and other management functions support remote monitoring and configuration.

    Battery and protection features

The charging system supports 24V SLA, AGM and gel lead-acid batteries and includes software-configurable undervoltage protection between 22 and 23.6V, along with hardware protection at 22V. These functions help manage available stored power for connected network equipment.
