The CE GLC-SX-MMD Cisco Compatible SFP transceiver provides 1000BASE-SX Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over multimode fibre using an 850nm wavelength. It supports transmission distances of up to 550m on suitable MMF and uses a duplex LC connector for fibre connectivity. Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) support provides access to optical operating information through compatible network equipment.
This transceiver supports 1000BASE-SX Gigabit Ethernet connectivity over multimode fibre. The 850nm optical interface provides reliable short-range fibre communication for compatible network equipment.
The module can provide transmission distances of up to 550m when used with suitable multimode fibre. Cisco documentation lists 220m with FDDI-grade 62.5-micron fibre, 275m with OM1, 500m with 50-micron fibre at 400 MHz/km and 550m with OM2.
The duplex LC/PC interface provides separate optical paths for transmitting and receiving data. It is suitable for connection to compatible multimode fibre patch leads and network equipment.
DOM support allows compatible networking equipment to access optical operating information from the transceiver. This provides useful visibility of transceiver and fibre-link conditions.
