The Teltonika EBD050 is a 5G Embedded Cellular Raspberry Pi HAT+ that adds high-speed mobile connectivity to Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 systems. It supports 5G, 4G and 3G networks and mounts directly onto the Raspberry Pi 40-pin header, providing a compact way to bring cellular communication to embedded applications where Wi-Fi or Ethernet may not be available.
The Calyx 5G module provides cellular connectivity using 5G, 4G and 3G mobile technologies. The 5G radio supports maximum RF power of 28 dBm, while LTE supports up to 28 dBm and WCDMA up to 25 dBm. This makes the HAT+ suitable for Raspberry Pi applications that require mobile data connectivity away from conventional wired networks.
The HAT+ mounts directly onto Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 boards, providing cellular expansion without requiring a separate external router. Its compact form factor helps keep the cellular modem and Raspberry Pi together within embedded projects and development systems.
GPIO connectivity allows the Raspberry Pi to control key modem functions, including waking and resetting the cellular module. This provides developers with additional control over modem operation when building embedded applications that need to manage cellular connectivity programmatically.
PCM audio support allows the Calyx platform to handle digital audio communication through the Raspberry Pi interface. This adds further flexibility for projects where cellular connectivity and audio functionality are required within the same embedded system.
The EBD050 uses a Quectel RG520N-EB modem and provides access to AT commands for modem configuration and status monitoring. Commands can be used for functions such as checking the modem identity, firmware information, SIM details, network registration and cellular configuration.
The Calyx platform provides a compact cellular expansion option for Raspberry Pi-based projects. It is suited to applications such as remote monitoring, digital signage, edge computing, IoT development and other embedded systems requiring mobile connectivity without relying on Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
