Multi Switch is a user-friendly and proven way to provide full protection against both load and mains supply faults. It delivers direct power distribution to 8 IEC connector sockets from 2 input power sources (2x mains supply, 2x UPS, or a combination).
2U automatic transfer switch delivers higher reliability than a single UPS can by offering redundant power, seamlessly transferring between input sources in the event of any issue without impacting your connected equipment.
Multi Switch distributes power to connected equipment from 2 independent inputs. These power sources can be 2 different mains supplies, 2 separate uninterruptible power supplies (including UPSs of different size or type), or a combination of mains and UPS.
In the event of a load failure, such as a short circuit, MSW automatically disconnects the group of sockets connected to the load, which prevents you from switching off other loads.
If either of the 2 input sources falls outside of tolerance levels, Multi Switch automatically transfers the load to the second power source. If the sources are in phase, switching is almost instantaneous (< 8 msec). Even if they aren’t in phase, transfer is rapid (below the 21 msec hold-up time specified in the Server System Infrastructure (SSI) standard), so it won’t have any negative impact on the connected equipment.
The 8 IEC sockets limits the need for additional PDUs. While MSW incorporates connectivity slots that enable LAN connections and remote management through software such as PowerShield³.
