The Allied Telesis AT-GS980MX/10HSM-30 is a compact, high-power Layer 3 Lite managed switch built for modern network edge environments that demand Multi-Gigabit performance, advanced resiliency, and PoE++ capability. Part of the GS980MX Series, this 8-port PoE++ switch with 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplinks and stacking support is ideal for powering high-performance Wi-Fi 6/6E access points, PTZ cameras, and other bandwidth-intensive, high-power devices.
The AT-GS980MX/10HSM-30 features eight Multi-Gigabit access ports supporting speeds up to 5Gbps, ensuring sufficient bandwidth for high-throughput devices such as Wi-Fi 6/6E access points and high-resolution video systems. With a switching fabric of 120Gbps and wire-speed forwarding, it delivers consistent low-latency performance.
Supporting IEEE 802.3bt PoE++, this switch can deliver up to 90 watts per port, with a total PoE budget of 500W. This makes it well suited for powering advanced PTZ cameras with heaters and blowers, high-brightness displays, and next-generation wireless access points without external power supplies.
Two SFP+ ports provide high-speed 10 Gigabit uplink connectivity to aggregation or core switches. A wide range of supported SFP+ modules allows flexible deployment across copper or fibre, supporting both short- and long-distance links.
Using Allied Telesis Virtual Chassis Stacking (VCStack™), up to four GS980MX switches can be combined into a single logical unit. This simplifies management, improves resiliency, and enables scalable expansion without increasing operational complexity.
The AT-GS980MX/10HSM-30 supports Layer 3 Lite features including static routing, RIP, ECMP routing, and full IPv6 readiness. This allows efficient traffic routing and segmentation closer to the edge while maintaining a simplified network architecture.
Running the AlliedWare Plus operating system, the switch integrates with Autonomous Management Framework Plus (AMF Plus) for zero-touch provisioning, centralised management, and rapid recovery. NETCONF/RESTCONF with YANG data models and a web-based GUI provide flexible management options.
