The Allied Telesis AT-GS980MX/52PSM-30 is a high-capacity, rack-mountable Layer 3 Lite managed switch built for demanding network edge environments. Part of the GS980MX Series, this stackable PoE+ switch combines high-density Gigabit and Multi-Gigabit ports with 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplinks, advanced resiliency, and centralised management-making it ideal for powering Wi-Fi 6 access points, IP surveillance, and converged enterprise networks.
The AT-GS980MX/52PSM-30 delivers forty Gigabit PoE+ ports alongside eight Multi-Gigabit PoE+ ports, providing the flexibility to support both traditional wired devices and bandwidth-intensive endpoints such as Wi-Fi 6 access points. This mixed-speed design allows seamless upgrades without replacing existing cabling.
With a total PoE budget of 370 watts and support for up to 30W per port, the switch can reliably power wireless access points, IP phones, and surveillance cameras directly from the network. This reduces the need for external power sources and simplifies installation at the network edge.
Four SFP+ uplink ports provide high-bandwidth 10 Gigabit connectivity to aggregation or core switches. This ensures sufficient throughput for high-density access deployments and helps eliminate bottlenecks as network traffic continues to grow.
Allied Telesis Virtual Chassis Stacking (VCStack™) allows up to four GS980MX switches to operate as a single logical unit. This simplifies configuration and management, enables rapid failover, and provides a scalable growth path without increasing operational complexity.
The AT-GS980MX/52PSM-30 supports Layer 3 Lite features including static routing, RIP for IPv4 and IPv6, and Equal Cost Multi-Path (ECMP) routing. These capabilities allow efficient traffic segmentation and routing closer to end devices, improving overall network efficiency.
Powered by the AlliedWare Plus operating system, the switch integrates with Autonomous Management Framework Plus (AMF Plus) and Vista Manager EX. Zero-touch provisioning, automated recovery, NETCONF/RESTCONF support, and a web-based GUI help reduce deployment time and ongoing administrative effort.
Enterprise-grade security features include IEEE 802.1X authentication, access control lists, DHCP snooping, and Dynamic ARP Inspection. Advanced Quality of Service prioritises voice and video traffic, while resiliency features such as EPSRing™, loop protection, and fast stack failover help maintain high network availability.
Housed in a 1RU rack-mountable chassis, the AT-GS980MX/52PSM-30 fits easily into standard network cabinets. Eco-friendly modes allow unused ports and LEDs to be disabled, reducing power consumption while maintaining full operational performance when required.
