The Allied Telesis AT-GS980MX/28PSM-30 is a high-performance, rack-mountable Layer 3 Lite managed switch designed for scalable, high-speed network edge deployments. Part of the GS980MX Series, this PoE+ switch combines Gigabit and Multi-Gigabit connectivity with powerful stacking, resiliency, and centralised management, making it an ideal solution for organisations deploying Wi-Fi 6 access points, IP surveillance, and converged voice and data networks.
The AT-GS980MX/28PSM-30 delivers a flexible port configuration with twenty Gigabit PoE+ ports and four Multi-Gigabit PoE+ ports supporting speeds up to 5Gbps. This design allows organisations to support both existing wired devices and next-generation endpoints such as Wi-Fi 6 access points without replacing infrastructure.
With PoE+ support across all access ports, the switch can supply up to 30 watts per port and a total power budget of 370W. This enables reliable powering of IP phones, wireless access points, and video surveillance cameras directly from the switch, reducing cabling complexity and installation costs.
Four integrated SFP+ uplink ports provide high-bandwidth 10 Gigabit connectivity to aggregation or core network layers. Support for a wide range of fibre and direct-attach modules ensures deployment flexibility across different distances and network topologies.
Using Allied Telesis Virtual Chassis Stacking (VCStack™), up to four GS980MX switches can be combined into a single logical unit. This simplifies management, improves resiliency with fast failover, and enables seamless network expansion while maintaining consistent configuration.
The AT-GS980MX/28PSM-30 supports Layer 3 Lite features including static routing, RIP for IPv4 and IPv6, and Equal Cost Multi-Path (ECMP) routing. These capabilities allow efficient traffic segmentation and routing at the network edge without the complexity of full core routing platforms.
Powered by the AlliedWare Plus operating system, the switch integrates with Autonomous Management Framework Plus (AMF Plus) and Vista Manager EX. Zero-touch provisioning, automated configuration, NETCONF/RESTCONF support, and a web-based GUI help reduce deployment time and ongoing operational effort.
Enterprise-grade security features include IEEE 802.1X authentication, access control lists, DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, and secure management protocols. Advanced QoS ensures prioritisation of voice and video traffic, while resiliency features such as EPSRing™, loop protection, and link aggregation help maintain high network availability.
Housed in a 1RU rack-mountable chassis, the AT-GS980MX/28PSM-30 fits easily into standard network cabinets. Eco-friendly features allow unused ports and LEDs to be disabled, reducing power consumption while maintaining full performance when required.
