DrayTek Vigor 2760 ADSL or VDSL Router/Firewall

The Vigor 2760 is a DSL router, ideal for your home or small office. It provides connectivity to your PCs or other Internet-connected devices (laptops, tablets, games consoles, smartphones) via its built-in Gigabit Ethernet ports, or using Wireless LAN (on 'n' models). The firewall helps protect your network from external threats, as well as the Vigor2760's built-in content filtering which gives you control over what and when your local users can access or download.   The Vigor 2760 series can alternatively connect to an Ethernet Internet connection, such as that from a cable modem (e.g. Virgin Media) instead of connecting to a ADSL/VDSL line.   Compatible 3G/4G (LTE) modems can also optionally be added to the USB port to provide backup or main Internet connectivity without any fixed line.

The Vigor 2760 series is now based on the latest DrayOS platform, providing a familiar interface to most other DrayTek routers and the latest performance and feature enhancements.

    Features:

    • ADSL, ADSL2+ & VDSL2 Router Firewall Supports both ADSL2+ & VDSL2
    • BT SIN498 MCT Approved
    • Ethernet WAN (for cable modems etc.)
    • 3G/4G USB Modem Support as primary or backup/failure
    • Native IPv4 & IPv6 dual-stack support. IPv6 is the new protocol for the Internet
    • Four Gigabit LAN Ethernet Ports
    • NAS facility using built-in or USB-based storage
    • Robust firewall with object-base rules
    • Twin Independent USB Ports for 3G/4G modem, printer or storage
    • Dial-out VPN (Two tunnels IPSEC/PPTP)
    • Port-based VLANs (isolate your clients)
    • QoS Assurance for different traffic types
    • Internet Content Filtering
    • Optional VigorCare Available

    VDSL and ADSL compatible

If you have ADSL today it will work with that, but if/when VDSL (FTTC) comes to your area later, you're ready, already. VDSL is available from BT under their 'Infinity™' service and various other suppliers, currently providing downstream speeds of up to 80Mb/s (depending on local service). You can also use 3G/4G (cellular) networks with the addition of a USB modem.

Most of us are still mostly using IPv4 as our Internet protocol (the system that gives us IP addresses like 194.158.12.42) but that's going to change.  Over the next few years, IPv6 will increase in usage and eventually we'll all be using IPv6, so the Vigor2760 already supports it - IPv4 and IPv6 can be run simultaneously (dual-stack) on the Vigor2760.

Cable Modem and Ethernet WAN Compatible - New

    Cable Modem with Vigor 2760
    Vigor 2760 connected to a cable-modem

As well as being able to connect to ADSL/VDSL lines directly though the RJ11 socket on the rear, the Vigor 2760 can now instead connect to Ethernet-fed Internet connections, such as that provided by cable modems (e.g. VirginMedia).  When Ethernet WAN is enabled, LAN Port 4 switches to become your WAN port into which you can connect to your cable modem or other Ethernet feed.

The other 3 Gigabit LAN ports (1-3) remain available for normal LAN connectivity.  Note, you cannot have Ethernet WAN and ADSL/VDSL enabled at the same time; if Ethernet WAN is enabled, the ADSL/VDSL port is disabled (and vice versa).   The photo on the right shows the Vigor 2760 connected to a cable modem using the Ethernet WAN Port.  This feature is available on Vigor 2760 units shipped after June 2014 (firmware 3.x.x or later required).

    Web Content Filtering

    WCF Categories

The content control features of the Vigor 2760 allow you to set restrictions on web site access, blocking download of certain file or data types, blocking specific web sites with whitelists (a lit of allowed sites) or blacklists (a list of blocked sites), blocking IM/P2P applications or other potentially harmful or time-wasting content. This is particularly useful in the home, where children need to be protected, or workplaces where inappropriate sites may be a liability, security risk or harmful to productivity. Restrictions can be per user, per PC or univeral. Using DrayTek's GlobalView service, you can block whole categories of web sites (e.g. gambling, adult sites etc.), subject to an annual subscription to the Globalview service, which is continuously updated with new or changed site categorisations or sites which have become compromised (such as infected with Malware). A free 30-day Globalview trial is included with your new router.

3G/4G Cellular Data & Network Attatched Storage (NAS)

    Network Attached Storage
The Vigor 2760 has two USB ports which can be used for 3G/4G modems, USB memory or a printer for shared access.

You can connect a USB 3G/4G modem to the Vigor2760 and use the cellular networks (O2, EE, Vodafone, Virgin, 3) as your Internet connectivity. That can be your primary (only) connection, or the router can switch over to 3G in the case of ADSL/VDSL outage so that you're always connected.

You can use your Vigor 2760 as a network attached storage (NAS) repository. This allows you to store files for local or remote users (anywhere on the Internet) to download - ideal for when you're on the move. You can also let users upload files - each remote user can have their own login and read-only or read-write FTP access to a preset directory. The Vigor 2760 has 40Mb of memory built-in for NAS but you can add a USB memory stick for as much storage as you need (FAT32 formatted).
