North Wales communities benefit from fibre cables deployment - Network Cables

The deployment of fibre-optic cables is to bring next-generation network connectivity to more homes and businesses in North Wales.

Aberconwy, Abergele and Llandudno have become the latest locations to benefit from the Superfast Cymru fibre rollout programme, as engineers deploy cables in Conwy County.

The Welsh Government is aiming to make fibre available to 96 per cent of premises in Wales by spring 2016.

Ty'n-y-groes, Penmaenmawr and Cerrigydrudion are set to be the next communities to be connected to the fibre network, by the end of March.

All exchange areas in the county are scheduled to go live before the end of September.

Deputy Minister for Skills and Technology Julie James said: “It’s great news the first homes and businesses in Conwy County now have access to fast fibre broadband through the Superfast Cymru scheme.

"As the roll-out continues, more and more communities will be able to realise the many benefits of receiving superfast speeds."

Ms James added that the Welsh Government is committed to seeing Wales become "a truly digital nation" over the coming months and years.
