This sensor allows you to monitor remote temperatures. Reporting back to the appliance in real-time, you can configure alarms to receive email, email-to-SMS and SNMP trap notifications when specified thresholds are breached. The sensor is suitable for a wide range of applications including monitoring of critical IT infrastructure, cold storage monitoring and more.

The standard temperature probe measures 1.25” (3.18 cm) in length. A 4” (10.16 cm) and 10” (25.4 cm) probe option is available for customers wanting to submerge these probes in water or glycol for liquid temperature monitoring.

The flood sensor allows the Geist Climate Monitor to detect leaks that could damage your equipment. The sensor measures conductivity and indicates whether the sensor is dry or wet.

When water or other conductive liquid is present, a tiny electrical current flows between the metal contacts on the sensor. A cable attached to the sensor allows the climate monitor to detect the presence of a leak. Some example sources include:
Plumbing fixtures
Air-conditioner drip pans
Condensation-outflow pans
Roof/ceiling leaks
Connecting to the Geist Climate Monitor

There are two options for connecting the flood sensor to the Geist Climate Monitor. Since the flood sensor is an analog sensor device it can connect directly to an Analog Input. If
other sensors already occupy these inputs, or the climate monitor doesn’t have them, then you can use a Analog to Digital Converter to connect the sensor to the monitor’s digital-sensor ports.

Alarms

The web interface provided by the Geist Climate Monitor allows you to configure alarms to notify you if water is present. The notification is sent through email and/or SNMP trap. Some units can also trigger an alarm buzzer or energize an output relay

Typically used to protect computer server rooms from water damage, the Leak Detection Kit attaches to a Geist Climate Monitor. When water is detected, the climate monitor sends alerts by e-mail or SNMP trap.

The sensing cable (orange wire) attaches to the fl oor using small nylon J-clips. The sensing cable connects to the leader cable which attaches to the wall-mounted interface box. An LED on the box provides a visual indication of the system status.

Connecting to the Geist Climate Monitor

Four signal wires connect to terminals on the interface box. One pair of wires tells if water was detected, while the other tells if the cable is damaged (cable fault). These wires connect the interface box to the climate monitor. There are two ways to connect the signal wires to the Geist Climate Monitor. One option is to attach the wire to the monitor's Analog Input terminals. The other option, if the monitor is not equipped with Analog Inputs or if none are available for use, is to use a pair of Analog to Digital Converters to connect the interface box's relay outputs to the monitor's digital sensor ports.

Alarms

The Geist Climate Monitor continuously monitors the Leak Detection Kit to see if water is detected. If so, the Geist Climate Monitor follows the actions indicated by user-defined alarms. Options include sending alerts through email or SNMP and, depending on the Geist Climate Monitor, trigger an alarm buzzer or energize an output relay. Alarm thresholds are confi gured through the web interface provided by the Geist Climate Monitor.

This sensor enables the climate monitor to monitor DC in low voltage systems. Using logs and graphs provided by the monitor you can remotely check on the status of the system. Find out if the batteries are being overcharged or not charged enough.

This sensor enables the Geist Climate Monitor to monitor DC low-voltage systems. Using logs and graphs provided by the Geist Climate Monitor you can remotely check on the status of the system. Find out if the batteries are being overcharged or not charged enough.

The 60VDCM sensor provides two sets of connection wires. Connect the wires with ring terminals to the battery system. These carry the input voltage (0 to 60VDC) to the sensor, where circuity translates this input into an output voltage (0 to 5VDC). Run the other set of wires to the Geist Climate Monitor and attach them to either an Analogue Input or Analogue to Digital Converter.

Connecting to the Geist Climate Monitor

Most Geist Climate Monitors have input terminals for connecting analogue sensors like the 60VDCM sensor. These Analogue Inputs accept a 0 to 5VDC signal which is reported on the Geist Climate Monitor as a 0 to 99 value. The Geist Climate Monitor logs these values along with other internal sensor readings. You can identify an Analogue Input by its user-defined “friendly” name.

An analogue to Digital Converter converts an analogue sensor to digital. This lets you connect a 60VDCM sensor to a digital sensor port when no Analogue Inputs are available. The 60VDCM connects to the screw terminals to the Analogue to Digital Converter and then the Analogue to Digital Converter connects to the Geist Climate Monitor.

Alarms

By setting appropriate trip points on the Geist Climate Monitor’s alarm page, you can receive an automatic alert (via email or SNMP) to a potentially dead, discharged, or overcharged battery bank based on the battery voltage.

This is especially useful when achieving in-row temperature monitoring for top, middle, and bottom of each rack as per ASHRAE guidelines.
