Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL) has unveiled a new digital switch which allows the automatic sharing of devices getting rid of the need for manual change over's using a front panel pushbutton or remote control.
The switch automatically transitions using latching copper contact relays, which maintain their settings even after a power failure.
According to ESL, the DB25 Network Switch has an automatic fallback design, which will automatically switch positions when a 5V transmission occurs.
"All 25 pins of the DB25 interface are switched and the switch ports are transparent to all data," the company added.
Netgear recently unveiled a new range of switches capable of gigabit Ethernet data transmission.
The FSM7226RS and FSM726E have 24 and 32 ports respectively and are both covered by the company's lifetime warranty.
Netgear's decision to launch the new devices comes despite falling sales in Ethernet switches, which is believed to be caused by the ongoing global economic downturn.
