Despite the ongoing economic downturn continuing to put pressure on IT budgets, network equipment manufacturer Advantech has introduced a new range of Ethernet switches.
The company's Industrial Automation Group has unveiled two new wide-temperature devices which mark the expansion of its successful EKI Industrial Ethernet Switch range.
Advantech's EKI-7629CI and EKI-7656CI are capable of operating in temperatures ranging from -40 to 167 degrees F (-40 to 75 degrees C).
The EKI-7629CI is an unmanaged device and features eight 10/100Base-TX ports and two Gigabit ports with RJ45connectors.
Meanwhile, the EKI-7656CI has double the number of 10/100Base-TX ports.
According to Advantech, both "ruggedised switches have been designed to withstand extreme shock and vibration" and are ideal for "demanding environments".
Earlier this year Server Technology launched a new power distribution unit (PDU) which is capable of monitoring both temperature and humidity in server rooms both of which have been linked to the amount of downtime firms suffer from.
