Ethernet switch market is 'set to rebound'

Ethernet switch market is 'set to rebound'The Ethernet switch market was buoyed by increased sales in the second quarter of this year, according to new research.

A study by Infonetics Research showed that in April and June of 2009, North America saw a 19 per cent climb in sales – the largest quarterly increase ever recorded by the firm.

According to its Ethernet Switches and Application Delivery Controllers report, the market was in freefall during the first three months of the year and analysts expected the market to continue to suffer.

But the global market grew by five percent between April and June.

Matthias Machowinski, author of the report directing analyst for enterprise voice and data and end user buying trends at Infonetics Research, said: "While the Ethernet switch market is down 24 per cent from this time last year, sales are moving up instead of down, and, based on vendor guidance, it looks like the market will see more growth in the coming quarter as well."

However, research conducted by the Dell'Oro Group pointed to a return to growth of the Ethernet Switch market in 2010 at the earliest.
