Turin Networks, a global provider of metro transport and switching solutions for wireline, wireless, MSO and private networks, has acquired Carrier Access for an estimated $92.7 million in cash.
The acquisition will see Turin Networks expand its suite of iConnect-based solutions, thanks to Carrier's broad portfolio of wireless backhaul and converged access products.
Henry Wasik, chief executive officer of Turin Networks, said: "The driver for Turin's significant growth over the past year has been carriers' increasing infrastructure investments to accommodate wireless data traffic and expanded Ethernet service offerings."
He said this led the company to look at strategic expansion opportunities to complement growth drivers and give customers "enhanced value".
Mr Wasik added: "The Carrier Access acquisition leverages our strengths in wireless, as well as converged IP networks, and enables Turin to offer comprehensive solutions that extend to theedge of the service provider network."
