SmartVM introduces new switch - SwitchesNetwork equipment manufacturer SmartVM has introduced a new switch that allows users to operate multiple monitors.

The Monitor Switch allows home and business users to stream multiple video sources to a single display unit.

It comes in two, four and eight connector versions and is also available in a high resolution version that is compatible with LCD screens – which is capable of supporting multiple displays with resolutions of up to 1,920 by 1,440 pixels at a refresh rate of 60Hz and a bandwidth of 250MHz.

The HDMI-ready switches can connect to any number of devices, such as laptops, DVD players, set-top boxes and VHS players, and SmartVM claims they are ideally suited to security networks in schools, casinos and for video conferencing.

SmartVM also has a number of USB to RJ45 booster cables which are fully compatible with Cat5, Cat5e and Cat6 leads, which can transmit signals across distances of up to 150 feet.

Recently, Avocent introduced a selection of digital keyboard, video and mouse switches suitable for use in server room monitoring applications.
