New switch reroutes data through three networks -Switches

Computer users will now be able to switch between as many as three networks thanks to the development of a new network switch.

Electro Standards Laboratories has produced the 8081 RJ45 A/B/C model, which requires no external power and can reroute networks by turning the knob on the front of the device, Thomas Net states.

According to the website, there is no need for unplugging and plugging cables, therefore reducing potential damage to connectors.

Supporting eight pins of RJ45 interface and transparent to data format, the new switch is rated for 10/100 Base-T networks, with a capacity for networks up to Cat 5.

The device has a sealed switch with self-wiping contacts and is stored in an aluminium desktop case, potentially appealing for those interested in cabinet accessories.

Computer users may also be interested in the Electro Standards Laboratories RJ45 Manual A/B Switch rackmount model 9448, which is Cat5e compliant.
