Network equipment manufacturer Netgear has been placed among the top revenue-generating storage solution firms in the world.
According leading technology analyst firm Gartner, Netgear is the worldwide leader in sub $5,000 (£3,000) network attached storage systems and is sixth among the top global vendors regardless of price.
"Netgear is proud to announce our rankings in this report. We believe Gartner's evaluation represents our strong presence and robust growth in the storage market," said Drew Meyer, Netgear's director of storage product marketing.
Gartner's April 2009 report, titled Market Share: Network Attached Storage/Unified Storage Worldwide 2009, analysed the total revenues and number of units shipped at the leading firms during 2008.
For data racks under the value of $5,000, Netgear has a 23 per cent market share and the company took third place in terms of revenue, with a growth rate in excess of 127 per cent.
Meanwhile, the firm recently unveiled a new powerline adapter for Ethernet use in the home.
