Foundry extends switch range

Foundry extends switch rangeFoundry Networks has extended its range of switch lines to cater better for high-powered equipment such as video and more general network growth.

The company will launch two new lines, with both the FastIron LS-STK and the FastIron GS-STK lines available from the summer. The products are designed to provide cheap and practical scaleable edge architecture.

Foundry is also extending its FastIron SuperX/SX line supporting ethernet power delivery which at 25 watts will almost double the energy supply to the current industry standard device, the IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE).

The power increase will facilitate the operation of devices such as surveillance cameras and video phones. The modules will retail for $7,995.

Foundry Networks is a global leader in the networking hardware market, and in October 2001 became the first networking organisation to provide 10-Gigabit ethernet products.
