QLogic Corp's 8Gb Fibre Channel products have been shipping as part of HP's StorageWorks Simple SAN Connection Portfolio, the company has announced.
The company is a leader in networking for storage and high performance computing and announced its products have been shipping since February 26th.
HP StorageWorks Simple SAN Connection Portfolio is a range of SAN infrastructure products which include end-to-end SAN management software with each switch.
Richard Villars, vice president of storage systems research at IDC, said that "a looming crisis in administration" is the biggest challenge to consolidated and virtualised infrastructure plans in the future."
He added that bladed server form factors, server virtualisation and networked storage have become more than just about boosting performance.
Mr Villars added: "Solutions like HP's 8Gb Simple SAN Connection solutions, based on QLogic technology, along with service offerings from HP's business partners allow IT managers to shift the focus from physical consolidation of servers or storage devices to structural consolidation efforts that boost the use of IT assets, enable central control of information processes, and support dramatic improvements in IT management efficiency."
