HP launches its next generation ProCurve series

HP launches its next generation ProCurve seriesHP ProCurve has launched a new line of edge switches, according to reports.

The ProCurve 2610 Series is the successor to the company's 2600 line of edge switches.

It includes five 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet switches with enhanced security, converged application support and traffic monitoring.

One of the switches offers Power over Ethernet (PoE) on half of its ports, while another two support it on all ports.

The switches also support 256 access control lists (ACLs) which enables the control of traffic by network administrators, website techworld.com reports.

They also include sFlow traffic sampling technology. Corey Copping, product marketing manager for ProCurve networking at HP Canada, told echannelline.com: "sFow is one of those things we're putting into the next generation of our switches and that was one thing that was planned."

He added: "The more ports live, the better really within the switch products."
