Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL) has unveiled a new 16-channel RJ45switch which can be operated remotely via the company's innovative graphic user interface.
The new Model 7435 switch is mountable in server racks or server cabinets and devices can be connected to it using standard RJ45 leads via its A/B front-facing ports.
In automatic mode, the Model 7435 controls the position of individual channels by checking for incoming data every millisecond and connecting to the relevant cabling.
The company said: "This highly-reliable switch passes switched signals via gold clad silver relays that maintain their position and continuity in the event of a power loss."
Meanwhile the devices remote port uses 10/100 RJ45 Ethernet technology and allows users to access its switch features via an IP address and uses password and login security features.
Broadcom recently unveiled a new switch chip which it claims could reduce power consumption by as much as 40 per cent.
