D-Link resolves router issue - D-Link

D-Link resolves router issue - D-LinkD-Link has issued a firmware update to plug a security hole in some of its routers.

A bug was recently discovered that meant devices could be offered a shadow connection, potentially resulting in other users gaining super-user privileges and changing the router settings, according to the Register.

The updates have been issued for the DIR-635, DIR-655 and DIR-855 routers, as well as a number of other models that have been discontinued.

It has been stressed that for the loophole to be exploited a password would still be needed, so the router should not necessarily be compromised.

D-Link provides designs, develops and manufactures a range networking equipment suitable for anything from homes and small businesses to enterprise environments.

It has a particular focus on green products, while the company also seeks to lead the way in Wireless N, which it sees as the future of wireless networking.
