Switch Interoperability will this year take place at Ixia's new iSimCity Lab in Santa Clara, California, in August.
Hosted by the Tolly Group, the annual event enables switch makers to benchmark their Layer 2 and Layer 3 interoperability with other vendors'.
Companies will be able to show that their products interoperate with other switches including Cisco offerings through third-party validation.
Each vendor will have to provide configuration support for its own products at the non-competitive study event.
Last year, vendors attending the event included 3Com, Blade Network Technologies, Foundry Networks and Alcatel-Lucent.
Kevin Tolly, CEO and founder of the Tolly Group, said: "In today's enterprise networks, the versatility and value that a switch provides is driven, in large measure, by its interoperability rate with other equipment.
"Switch Interoperability 2008 is a level playing ground for vendors to assess interoperability and report on their capabilities to the buying public."
