Scotland trials Cisco's HealthPresence

Scotland trials Cisco's HealthPresenceAberdeen Royal Infirmary in Scotland is trialling Cisco's HealthPresence, according to reports.

The trial is being managed by the Scottish Centre for Telehealth (SCT), the National Health Service in Scotland and Cisco.

Cisco said that HealthPresence makes teleconferencing between patients and caregivers possible, bringing together audio and call centre technology and video, website Computer Business Review reports.

Gordon Peterkin, director of the Scottish Centre for Telehealth, told the website: "In our efforts to provide better patient care and utilise our medical staff to the full, we have been collaborating the Cisco Internet Business Solutions Group Healthcare."

He added: "Solutions such as Cisco HealthPresence enable us to offer convenience for patients and service delivery efficiency for our doctors. We look forward to drawing upon the results from this pilot to optimise our regional and national healthcare delivery resources."
