It is believed that networking equipment and management group Cisco is to launch its remarketing channel.
According to a report from MicroScope, the refurbished kit could be more important in the current economic climate.
Comstor's European vice-president and managing director Jon Pritchard told the news provider that it is important Cisco builds a "creditable alternative" to the unofficial channels that are available at present.
"We've been working with Cisco on refurbished goods and were seeing a reasonable take-up," Mr Pritchard explained.
Last week, Illuminas Global published a study - sponsored by Cisco - that claimed citizens in developing economies were "well aware of the potential of the internet" and expect to access online portals considerably more than they currently do.
Urban centres within these emerging markets claimed some of the key barriers to using online services were a lack of skills, paucity of services and over-reliance on shared-access PCs such as those found in internet cafes.
