Cisco in $100m Securenet deal

Cisco in $100m Securenet dealNetworking giant Cisco has announced a $100 million acquisition of policy management software vendor Securenet, according to reports.

The latest deal marks the 125th acquisition for Cisco, IT Week reports.

Securenet's Entitlement Management Solution (EMS) allows businesses to manage access to the whole of their hardware and software rollout.

According to the company, EMS is the first "proven XACML standard-based solution", which enable groups to "create, enforce, review and audit fine-grained access policies" across a number of different application and IT environments.

Don Proctor, senior vice president at Cisco's Collaboration Software Group, told IT Week: "As enterprises shift to service-orientated architectures and adopt technologies such as unified communications and Web 2.0 applications, there is a rising need for control over access to distributed enterprise resources.

"Securenet's software offers enterprises a single pointof control to define and manage entitlements across applications and data."
