Cisco will be extending its application network services (ANS) in order to improve its datacentre security, according to reports.
The top networking company has added new appliances the 5580-20 and 5580-40 models. It is expected that these will improve content inspection performance and the consolidation of firewalls.
The first model will give 5Gbit/s throughput performance and the second the 5580-40 model will provide double that, IT Week reports.
Kevin Regan, security consultant at Cisco, told the magazine: "We're seeing people using a wider variety of access devices and there's a real need for financial institutions to get really low latency for better performing real-time applications."
