Cisco improves datacentre security

Cisco improves datacentre securityCisco will be extending its application network services (ANS) in order to improve its datacentre security, according to reports.

The top networking company has added new appliances – the 5580-20 and 5580-40 models. It is expected that these will improve content inspection performance and the consolidation of firewalls.

The first model will give 5Gbit/s throughput performance and the second – the 5580-40 model – will provide double that, IT Week reports.

Kevin Regan, security consultant at Cisco, told the magazine: "We're seeing people using a wider variety of access devices and there's a real need for financial institutions to get really low latency for better performing real-time applications."
