Ethernet switch sales are up nine per cent year-on-year, according to new statistics.
Figures from Infonetics Research's Ethernet and Application Switches report showed that the market is now worth $17.3 billion worldwide up from its value in 2006.
Between the third and fourth quarter of 2007, however, sales of Ethernet switches fell slightly by two per cent.
Matthias Machowinski, directing analyst for enterprise voice and data, said that the fall was to be expected and actually did slightly better than was predicted.
He added: "On the vendor front, 3Com's revenue share nearly doubled in 2007 after buying out Huawei's ownership interest in H3C.
"Aside from that, there weren't any significant high-level market share shake-ups in the switch market this year."
