3Com Corporation leads the way in green networking, according to new research.
A study by independent research firm In-Stat found that the company's local area network switches are as much as 60 per cent more energy efficient than their competitors'.
This means that customers using 3Com's products can use significantly less electricity to power their networks.
3Com has been on a drive to reduce its energy consumption in recent months, while increasing network functionality.
Scott Hilton, vice president of enterprise products at 3Com, said: "Businesses worldwide are looking for effective ways to reduce energy use, both to save money and to conserve resources.
"Through innovative design, 3Com's newest products use up to 78 per cent less power than previous switches. It's gratifying that In-Stat recognizes 3Com's industry leadership in this important area."
