Terminal 5C cabling to be installed by Carillion - Structure Cabling

Terminal 5C cabling to be installed by Carillion - Structure CablingBAA has signed a structured cabling contract with Carillion for its soon-to-be-finished Terminal 5C at Heathrow Airport.

The terminal is expected to be operational by 2011 and all seven floors will have state of the art network equipment installed.

Carillion will be supplying high-performance fibre optic leads as well as Cat6 cables, which will connect 5,000 data outlets to the terminal's network.

The new network will transmit data to passenger information displays, gate computer desk systems and baggage handling depots.

"Carillion IT Services have already demonstrated their abilities and expertise in working successfully for BAA within a live airfield, at the world's busiest international airport," BAA's operations director James Hindes said.

He added: "We are therefore confident that they can deliver the project within this kind of environment."

Meanwhile, further expansion of Heathrow Airport has been opposed by top executives at Sainsbury's, Carphone Warehouse and BskyB.

The plans include calls for a third runway to be developed at the site.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19163035-ADNFCR
