Powerline communication is 'emerging as home networking winner'

Powerline communication is 'emerging as home networking winner'Research and Markets has claimed in its new report that powerline communication is emerging as the winner in the race to conquer home networking.

According to the firm's Global Powerline Home Networking Update: Growing on Spite of the Economy, powerline communications, also known as broadband powerline networking (BPN), offers many benefits over standard coaxial and RJ45 twisted pair networking solutions.

"We still expect powerline to play a dominant role in the existing-wire networking arena on a worldwide scale," the reports states.

According to Research and Markets, worldwide equipment sales for HomePlug and non-HomePlug BPN technology hit ten million units during 2007.

The report also provides guidance on future developments in the sector.

Meanwhile the HomePlug Powerline Alliance Working Group has announced that the IEEE P1901 Working Group has approved its standardisation proposals.ADNFCR-1186-ID-18958405-ADNFCR
