High-speed copper cabling from Panduit - Structure Cabling

High-speed copper cabling from Panduit - Structure Cabling Network equipment manufacturer Panduit cabling has launched a new high-speed copper Cat6 cable which the company claims is both cost effective and efficient.

Speaking to senior editor of TMCnet Erin Harrison, Panduit's manager of product development for high-speed copper said: "Data centre managers are under pressure to provide more efficient and cost effective solutions.

He claimed that the new factory terminated 10G SFP+ Cat6 cable is a hot pluggable solution that allows for easy installation and is suitable for both medium and large data centre applications.

The cables are available at lengths of up to 23 feet and use a parallel shielded pair cable known as twin-axial.

He added that operating costs can be pushed down in data centres that use the new devices as they can offer power savings of more than 15 per cent.

Meanwhile, Bob Pollock, director of marketing for Corning, said that its new Pretium fibre optic leads generate less heat than standard copper leads and can therefore reduce power consumption in cooling equipment.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19300821-ADNFCR
