Data centre expansion is carrying cabling market - Structure Cabling

Data centre expansion is carrying cabling market - Structure Cabling The expansion of existing data centres and the construction of new ones is carrying the structured cabling industry, it has been claimed.

According to Debraj Dam, business head at DigiLink Structured Cabling Systems, the expansion of the structured cabling sector can be pinned on the need for increased data transmission speeds to match the number-crunching capabilities of modern processors.

Meanwhile, director of product management at ADC Krone Dileep Kumar said: "IT managers have started taking cabling infrastructure a lot more seriously."

"They have recognised that the speed and performance of the network is as much an element of the passive infrastructure as it is the active," he added.

Another growing trend in the data centre sector is that businesses are starting to make their operations more green.

Microsemi has just launched a new standard for energy efficient power over Ethernet, which it hopes will receive wide-spread compliance.

The company's Green PoE certification programme highlights power over Ethernet products which are above the 75th percentile in terms of energy efficiency. ADNFCR-1186-ID-19172441-ADNFCR
