Cat6 cables for Newham Council - Structure Cabling

Cat6 cables for Newham Council - Structure Cabling Newham Council has equipped its head office with a new range of Cat6 cables from Siemon.

The council has installed the structured cabling in the hope of boosting the speed of its existing network equipment.

Based on the Siemon Cat6A shielded cabling system, the equipment has been installed at the council's Royal Dock's office, which is home to more than 2,000 workers and houses the borough's mayor.

The council hopes to benefit from more flexible working and cost reductions as a result of the infrastructure upgrade.

Siemon's cabling is 10Gbps compliant and will be used to support business critical operations, such as video conferencing, media streaming and unified communications.

The company won the network equipment contract following a competitive tender which was launched by the council last year.

"With the 2012 Olympics fast approaching, it is imperative that we have the latest technology at our disposal to meet the challenges of improving front-line services," said Newham Council's Duncan Mackie.

In June of this year, Siemon launched a new range of plug and play fibre optic leads which it claims are 75 per cent quicker to install.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19297475-ADNFCR
