Carillion offloads cabling solutions operation - Structure Cabling

Carillion offloads cabling solutions operation - Structure Cabling International construction firm Carillion has agreed to offload its third-party IT services business to Capita.

The firm has declined to disclose the amount Capita has paid for its network equipment and cabling solutions arm.

Carillion acquired the IT business in October 2007, paying Alfred McAlpine £572 million for the firm.

The operation is expected to turn a profit of £3.7 million on a total revenue of £66 million by the end of the year.

The company has also reached an agreement to outsource its internal IT services to networking firm Accenture, a company which also provides a range of finance and human resources functions to Carillion.

Earlier this year, BAA signed a five-year structured cabling contract with Carillion which will see the firm supplying high-performance fibre optic leads and a range of Cat6 cables to Heathrow Airports Terminal 5C.

"Carillion IT Services have already demonstrated their abilities and expertise in working successfully for BAA within a live airfield," BAA's operations director James Hindes said.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19212575-ADNFCR
