Cabling manufacture Tyco Electronics has introduced a new range of copper-based cabling systems specifically designed for use in data centres.
The company's Amp NetConnect MRJ21 cabling system which is an alternative to standard RJ45 cables and leads are sensitive to electromagnetic interference.
According to Tyco, as data cabinets and server racks become more densely populated with network equipment the number of connections used is continually increasing.
With this in mind Tyco has created a modular, scalable cabling system which allows the highest possible port density and is critical in modern data centres.
Julian Riley, sales director for the UK and Ireland at the Amp NetConnect Business Unit of Tyco, said: "Today, many customers ask for electromagnetic compatibility protection as a matter of course, particularly to ensure high availability in the data-center environment where sensitive IT systems are often installed alongside potential sources of disturbance."
In related news, Harting has introduced a new connector which supports copper and fibre optic cables.
The device allows power and data links to be combined.
