Network equipment manufacturer Sommer Cables has launched a brand new Cat7 lead.
The firm's Excelsior Classique 1 series has been dubbed "probably the fastest network RJ45 patch cable in the world".
Sommer Cables' latest addition to its RJ45 lead series is suitable for both digital video and audio. It can also cope with other ultrafast 10Gbps data demands and conforms with the Fast Ethernet protocols.
Commenting on the high standards employed at Sommer Cables' manufacturing facilities to L&Si Online, the company claimed: "For the cable confectioning process we use only single high-grade components of no-compromise quality.
"The mounted full-metal RJ45 Cat6a connectors have a special bushing for large cable cross sections which are indispensable for a 10Gbps transmission."
Recently, Analog Devices unveiled a new integrated circuit specifically designed to address problems of skew during video transmission down Cat7, Cat6 or Cat5 leads.
Meanwhile, the firm claims the new device consumes 50 per cent less power when compared with rival products.
