Orange trials 20Mb broadband – fibre leads

Orange trials 20Mb broadband – fibre leadsOrange is trialling its 20MB fibre optic broadband service, it has been revealed.

The internet service provider is offering the superfast connection to 300 customers, with plans to roll the technology out across the country later in the year.

Proposals are in place to implement fibre optic cable equipment which will allow users to access 20Mb broadband for the same price as Orange's 8Mb connection.

Asif Aziz, speaking for the company's UK arm, commented that the trial is an important step in the firm being able to offer highspeed internet services through its network.

He said: "It is also testament to our ongoing commitment to evolve our fixed broadband service and ensure we offer customers a truly reliable user experience."

Last week, Ofcom gave the go-ahead to the latest investment in next generation internet technology.

The telecoms regulator announced that it will not impose a price cap on BT's proposed fibre optic lead broadband service.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19064451-ADNFCR
