Multi-channel Cat5e cable launched by Wireworks - Cable

Multi-channel Cat5e cable launched by Wireworks - Cable Cabling firm Wireworks has introduced a new multi-channel Cat5e cable solution at the AES 2009 conference.

According to the firm, the MCat5 product simplifies the network equipment installation process and does away with the need for individual cable runs.

The device uses a multi-pin connector – as opposed to a standard RJ45 connector – which Wireworks claims makes for a more rugged connection and improved network durability.

"Wireworks introduced multi-pin, multi-channel audio cables to replace individual mic cable runs which revolutionised analogue audio cabling," said Gerald Krulewicz, president of the firm.

"Now, MCAT5 replaces multiple network cable runs in a single durable cabling solution," he added.

The Cat5e cable has a tough protective jacket, is shielded and comes in lengths of up to 250 feet.

Recently, Brand-Rex warned that unshielded Cat6 cables are susceptible to electromagnetic interference.

The firm's research showed that crosstalk was also a major problem when unshielded leads were used for 10BASE-T gigabit Ethernet transmission.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19401577-ADNFCR
