Lindy Electronics has announced the release of its new fibre-optic HDMI extender, which it claims allows signals to be transmitted over "incredibly long distances".
Using a standard SC duplex multimode fibre-optic cable the unit can transmit to monitors over 300 metres from the HDMI source.
The Lindy Fibre-Optic HDMI Extender has two units, with the transmitter and receiver both connected to the source, and can offer support for full 1,080-pixel high-definition video and audio through a single cable.
Andrew Ingram, product manager at Lindy Electronics, said the device "eliminates the need for multiple cables".
He added: "The Lindy Fibre Optic HDMI Extender overcomes several issues including the cost of additional cables, simplicity of installation and incompatibility issues that can occur between devices when multiple cables are used."
Harting recently unveiled a new range of heavy duty cabling connectors aimed at lighting and sound engineers looking to use them on theatre stages and at concerts.
