One of the most famous theatres in Sweden has undergone an upgrade of its audio cabling network, according to reports.
Helsingborgs Stadsteater began the upgrade during the summer of last year an upgrade which has included the enabling of digital audio distribution over EtherSound, Entertainment Technology Press reports.
Sound engineer Per Wennling told the website: "A large scale Cat6 network cable installation was already planned, so adding a bit more cable for audio use was easy.
"We opted for audio distribution over EtherSound because of its extremely low latency, excellent sound quality and because it is compatible with equipment from a large number of reputable manufacturers, so we can be flexible in how we build our system."
He added that one of the benefits is that a mixing console or stage box can now be moved around without difficulty thanks to the fact that there is only one Cat6 cable instead of "heavy multicores".
