HDMI labelling standardised - Cable

HDMI labelling standardised - Cable HDMI Licensing has issued a new standardised set of easily-identifiable cabling logos on behalf of the HDMI Founders.

The HDMI Adopted Trademark and Logo Usage Guidelines aim to simplify the process of cable acquisition for both residential and business users.

All of the logos and guidance relates to the HDMI, high-definition data transmission standard.

The biggest changes are to the restrictions surrounding the version numbers of different cabling solutions.

According to the latest guidelines, businesses will no longer be allowed to use HDMI version numbers in labelling, packaging or promotional materials.

Firms have until January 1st 2010 to comply with the new guidance.

Also, HDMI cabling now comes in five varieties only. These are standard HDMI cable, standard HDMI cable with Ethernet, standard automotive HDMI cable, high-speed HDMI cable and high-speed HDMI cable with Ethernet.

Meanwhile, Electronics Weekly's Chris Miller claims that demand for DVI and HDMI is continuing to grow.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19471880-ADNFCR
