Ethernet cables are best for home networking - Cable

Ethernet cables are best for home networking - Cable People considering connecting their TVs, set-top boxes and DVD players to a home network should consider using standard Ethernet cables, it has been claimed.

According to Investor's Business Daily writer Ken Spencer Brown, the technology, which in the past has been used for local area network connections, is the best way to achieve high speed home networking on a budget.

He said: "Just plug the Ethernet cable into your home router on the one side and, on the other side, into any device you want to connect to your home network."

Mr Brown said the major downside to using standard Ethernet cables was that they are often ugly and users will have to find a way of hiding the leads.

He suggested installing structured cabling in the walls of a property if the option is available to avoid the tangle of wires that can result from a home network.

Earlier this year, Netgear launched its Home Theatre Internet Connection Kit, which is part of the firm's award-winning network equipment range.ADNFCR-1186-ID-19431263-ADNFCR
