AboveNet Communications providing IP Transit for Bhutan

AboveNet Communications providing IP Transit for BhutanAboveNet Communications UK has announced it will be providing a new IP Transit service for Bhutan Telecom.

The British company is a leading provider of fibre optic connectivity solutions for business and carriers and a subsidiary of AboveNet Inc.

Its provision of the IP Transit will enable Bhutan Telecom's customers to gain fast, reliable internet connectivity over fibre optic cabling for the first time in its history.

The company had previously relied on satellite connectivity for its internet access, but through AboveNet's network, it will be able to take advantage of a high quality, low latency internet experience.

It will utilise an international fibre network operator's submarine fibre cable link to London via Mumbai.

Leeland Pavey, vice president of operations at AboveNet, said: "With remote countries such as Bhutan realising the demand for high speed and reliable connectivity, the development of fibre optic and carrier class IP networks are proving fundamental in narrowing the communication bridge between distant parts of the world.

"With our Tier-1 IP Transit network and unparalleled fibre assets, AboveNet is positioned as a key player in the future of global connectivity."
