Benefits of digital video over structured cabling is discussed by Siemon - Structure CablingNetwork equipment manufacturer Siemon has published a whitepaper on the benefits of using structured cabling for the transmission of digital video data.

The paper, titled Getting the Picture: The Benefits of Supporting Video Applications with your IT Infrastructure was developed by Siemon to help give IT professionals advice on choosing suitable cabling infrastructure to deal with their digital video requirements.

According to the firm, the number of companies broadcasting, transmitting and using digital video is increasing rapidly and the growth is being driven by smarter and more capable video applications.

It states that many of these new pieces of software are not supported effectively enough by standard coaxial cable infrastructure.

The company claims that IT infrastructure use can be used to better effect and improve image quality, allow for high-definition transmissions to be delivered, and give companies greater support for convergence of voice, data and video.
